In his 20-year career, Dan has made a name for himself shooting 500+ projects with politicians, artists, celebrities, CPG companies, and more. His passion shows in the 2+ million photographs he’s shot over his career. Dan started photographing his passion—BMX bicycles. In high school, he worked with the most significant BMX publications to push the boundaries of graphic storytelling in extreme sports.

Even before graduating from Columbia College with a BA in photography, he shot weddings and portraits that helped him hone his understanding of light, composition, and how to make great work with limited resources and time.

Immediately after graduation, he opened a studio in downtown Chicago, where he worked with clients to tell their stories. Here, Dan gained even more experience shooting in adverse conditions, from photographing live brain surgery for a medical imaging company to dancers for the Joffrey Ballet.

From there, he endeavored to push his craft into travel photography. He worked on projects internationally for tourism boards, hotels, and others. This included shooting on location in Iceland for Icelandair, Finland for Finnair, South Africa for Macallan Scotch, and dozens of hotels worldwide.

After traveling and working in 50+ countries he’s never out of his comfort zone.

His unmatched attention to detail when it comes to lighting and his obsession with making the mundane dynamic is something he strives for every day.

In 2016, Dan took his photography skills and dove head-first into cinematography and filmmaking. His photographic eye translated seamlessly to a cinematography style with unmatched attention to detail and composition.

His personal project, “At Home With,” featured artists in their spaces in three countries. His curiosity about the lives of creatives in their spaces drove him to hone his craft of creative storytelling.

Above all else, his passion for lighting and composition reigns supreme. Dan is a lifelong student of finding ways to make everything look spectacular on camera.
